Emerging athlete preparing for major competition

Kai Trump can count on plenty of high-profile supporters when she begins her first LPGA appearance later this week.

This teenage golfer, who happens to be related to Donald Trump, received a sponsor's invitation to compete at the Annika competition in Florida.

Her grandfather, an avid golfer, owns numerous golf courses and often competes against his granddaughter.

"He's quite skilled. I can't say much but we play some close matches," she mentioned.

Kai explained that Trump, who cannot attend, counseled her: "Just stay calm."

"He essentially told me to play and enjoy myself," she added.

"To me, he's just an ordinary family member. He won't be there this weekend. He's occupied with presidential duties, making him rather occupied."

As an amateur, the golfer has competed in a mere three competitions in 2024 and has position 461 in the American Junior Golf Association listings.

However she can seek guidance from 15-time major champion, who is dating her mother.

"He stands as the greatest golfer in the world," the young golfer said.

"And he's an even better individual. He told me to play, relax, adapting to the flow."

Kai will face multiple top competitors in women's golf at the competition, featuring second-ranked the champion, British golfer Hull, professional Thompson and last year's winner champion Vu.

Officials commented that Kai's presence brings golf to wider groups, particularly reaching youth audiences.

The social media influencer maintains millions of followers and just introduced a personal fashion and living brand.

She begins at late afternoon GMT.
