American-Palestinian Teenager Liberated Following Nine-Month Period in Israel's Imprisonment

A Palestinian-American youth who spent nine months in Israeli detention absent formal charges gained freedom.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 when he was arrested this past winter throughout the West Bank territory, while he was vacationing on holiday from Florida under suspicion of rock throwing against settlement residents, which he previously denied.

The US state department applauded the news of Mohammed's release.

Now sixteen years old, was taken to hospital right after being freed, family members reported.

Family described him as showing signs of malnutrition, and is suffering from conditions acquired while detained.

Via family representatives, Mohammed's uncle spoke of the family's "tremendous relief".

Zeyad Kadur said the family had been "living a horrific and endless nightmare" throughout the past nine months.

"Right now, we're concentrating on getting Mohammed prompt healthcare he needs following exposure to Israel's abuse and inhumane conditions for months."

American authorities said it would continue to offer diplomatic assistance to the teenager's relatives.

{"US government authorities considers paramount to ensuring the safety of US citizens"," the department emphasized.

A group of American legislators had signed a letter to diplomatic officials and President Donald Trump, demanding more be done for his freedom.

Mohammed's parent, with four children operating an ice cream shop from Florida, had earlier stated Mohammed acknowledged allegations regarding stone throwing after being assaulted by soldiers.

He had not seen or communicated with his son since February, and only heard about his son's condition in detention through court documents.

The teenager remained lacking indictment in Ofer prison in the West Bank.

It is also home to adult prisoners, including individuals found guilty for major terrorist activities and homicide.

Approximately 350 Palestinian child security detainees being held in Israeli jails, based on prison authority data.

Numerous remain uncharged along with monitoring agencies, and international organizations, document cases involving mistreatment and torture.

After the teenager's freedom, Mr Kadur said they would maintain their efforts seeking justice for their relative family member Sayfollah.

The dual national youth per medical officials died from beating by radical settlers amid clashes during summer.

At the time, defense forces stated authorities were looking into reports a Palestinian civilian had died.

Mohammed and Sayfollah had worked together at their family's ice cream business based in Florida.

No one has been charged for the cousin's murder.

"We expect the American government to ensure our family's safety," Mr Kadur said.
